Clear view on your infrastructure - bytemine and Brille24!
Brille24 is one of Oldenburgs success stories and grown massively since its foundation in 2007 by Matthias Hunecke. Brille24 is Germanys leading online retailer and offers about 800 different models of glasses. With online shops in Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain, and more than one million customers in 117 countries Brille24 is one of the largest Magento-based e-commerce sites in german.
The cooperation between Brille24 and bytemine started in early 2014 and very bytemine-like: After an inventory of the shopping platform infrastructure first actions where recommended. Based on these beginning steps a teamwork between both companies began and was successfully established on time for the first TV commercials. During prior load tests and during the first broadcast of the commercial both teams were conferencing, and found several essentials tweaks. Not only Brille24 got profit from this teamwork - such high hit rates are not common for us (the commercial was broadcasted at prime time and on several channels simultaneously).
In the course of time many methods and tools that were in use at bytemine had also been deployed at Brille24, accompanied by transferring our knowledge to the Brille24 admin team. For example Puppet is being used for administering and managing the servers, and The Foreman is used for orchestrating the virtual machines at Brille24.
André Schneider, Head of IT administration at Brille24, summed it up: "bytemine does not only convince by their outstanding work, but also because of the nice team mates and their considerate and analytic strategy even in emergency situations."
Brille24 still makes use of the 24/7 on call service of bytemine. At the "Kundentag 2015" the Brille24 admin team got curious for the IDB - the Infrastructure DataBase. The idea was perceived that well that Brille24 became the pilot customer running the IDB. By that every team member - and we as service provider - a clear view on the infrastructure!
